all trash produced by the United States for the next century would only be about ten square miles.

Disposing of trash in the conventional way, landfills, is widely reviled. It is often thought of as harmful, toxic and carcinogenic. However, the EPA estimates that there will only be about 5.7 cancer-

related deaths caused by landfills in the next 300 years. Landfills are also a reliable source of capital for our country's economy.

Trash is often transported across state lines and traded back and forth, accruing around $4 billion dollars in capital a year.
